A lot of dancers think that jazz dance is a bit like ballet and learning to dance a jazz style means learning ballet technique. But really it is very different to ballet. There is some dance which fuses ballet and and jazz which is called jazz ballet or ballet jazz and a lot of dance companies use different ballet moves and jazz moves to create their choreography. But it is of course possible to learn to dance jazz dance without doing ballet and it is quite difficult to learn as well. There are a lot of moves, steps and techniques to learn. You can look at some of the different choreography from dance companies like the Alvin Ailey dance company or see some jazz dance routines on pop videos by top choreographers Darrin or Madonna Grimes. Most kinds of dance styles use jazz steps in their routines. Breakdance, street dance, contemporary jazz, all use jazz techniques to add flavor to their choreography. For example if you watch some of the dance movies on dvd or in the cinema like the new style of tap dance, stomp and the movie Stomp The Yard, breakdancin step up and more, you can see they all use some jazz styles in their dancing. And some famous music artists like Usher, Beyonce, Omarion and others all use jazz dance choreography in their music videos. To see some free urban style dance videos check out the Urban Dance TV Showcase at http://www.squidoo.com/urbandancetv. You'll find some free videos there as well to try out the different styles of dance, do a dance workout or learn some dance routines.

The thing about dancing and singing or any performing arts is that it is mostly based on performance. Everything you do is meant for the public and the show. But in this way it is maybe one of the easiest things to do. You can always see your dance routine and how it looks and hear your songs. So it is easy to see your mistakes and correct them unlike traditional education subjects where you might not be able to recognize your mistakes without someone else pointing them out to you.
If you practice a lot then your performance should get better, but many famous dancers and singers say that if you don't correct your mistakes early on it will lead to some problems later, maybe you'll miss a beat, be out of time, or even get injuries which take ages to recover from. it is better to do things properly form the beginning, start slowly and build on your performances. One dance routine or one song which looks great to the public is better than a lot that look bad.

While you are getting fit or if you do regular fitness it is important to watch what you eat and to eat more healthy food to keep your energy levels up. Here are a few ways to keep your energy levels up during fitness training and working out.
Drink water - it is easy to get dehydrated especially if you are young and drinking fresh water if you workout is important otherwise you can feel dizzy, lack energy and get out of breath.
Eat more proteins - proteins help to build and regenerate cells and if you do a lot of fitness they will feed the body with more energy so that your muscles can get stronger. Lack of proteins can make you tired and have weak muscles
Get more iron - iron will help you have more energy and power which is good for fitness training. If you lack in iron you may find you are weak, and do not have enough strength to workout
You can take vitamin and mineral supplements as tablets or in powder form mixed with juice. Or you could get an energy drink like Powerade, MultiFruits, or popular sports drinks. But you can find proteins and minerals in a lot of foods and it is recommended by top fitness instructors and personal trainers to eat more beans, pulses, vegetables and fruits if you are following a fitness program and exercise a lot.
Keeping your energy levels up for exercise is important as otherwise your training may suffer, so it is a good idea to look into what nutrition values foods have and adapt your diet. Check here under fitness for some more information about exercise, nutrition and working out. An easy way to learn any song or dance routine is to split the tune or choreography up into sections. If you learn each section and then put them together it can be easier than learning the whole song or routine in one go. Practising the same steps or the same few lines of a tune until they are easy is a popular way of learning any performance. In fact in most dance choreography and in most songs there will always be some beats, steps or lines repeated so once you know the first lots you already know a lot of the whole song or routine. In a song it is easy to learn each verse separately and then the chorus. And you will find that each dance routine will use sets of beats which are repeated in the choreography

I thought this article was good for anyone doing performance. It shows some ways that you can make yourself look beautiful to others just by using your own personality. This is important on the stage as the focus is all on you and what you give out is noticed by your audience.
Discovering Your Inner Beauty
"Looks are nothing without spirit"
That is the tag line for the new fragrance by Antonio Banderas. It’s called "Spirit" and although I have yet to smell it, that tag line appeals to my inner beauty. It’s true that looks are nothing without your inner spirit shining through. It’s your essence and your personality that makes you beautiful - not the clothes or makeup that you wear.
Many of us envy other women who we perceive as being "perfect". They have the perfect nose, the flawless face….they get to wear all the finest clothing. Little do we know that some of these women are total bitches who care about nothing and nobody but themselves. It’s almost a waste of outer beauty, ya think?
So, you’re probably wondering, Well, how do I get to have this inner beauty?
Here’s my advice…
* Stay true to yourself. What I mean by this in terms of fashion and beauty is that you wear clothing and makeup that you like and feel comfortable with - not what a magazine tells you to wear. Just because Lindsay Lohan wears Chanel doesn’t mean that you have to.
* Smile and be happy. This may take a bit of work on your part - especially if you are depressed or angry inside. Make an effort to say positive affirmations to yourself in the morning after you wake up. We are all meant to be happy! Surround yourself with positive people and they’re energy will start to rub off on you…
* Be confident. All of us have our own insecurities. Maybe we think that we’re just not as pretty as so and so or maybe we feel that people will make fun of what we’re wearing. When you stand up tall and feel comfortable in your own skin - that’s what people really pay attention to. People are attracted to people who have confidence in themselves and don’t worry about what other people think.
